Black Swan Guild at the Round Tower

Crowdfunding appeal

In December the Black Swan Guild will be open for applications to the join this much anticipated organisation. We have launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise £10,000 to enable us to ensure that the Guild gets off to the best possible start, with the greatest likelihood of having a sustainable future.

The funding raised will cover:

  • exhibitions costs
  • marketing
  • building management
  • software

We also hope to be able to sponsor student memberships.

This Guild will be an association to nurture and showcase the highest quality work from the widest possible range of local and regional craftspeople. It will be open to practitioners of every type of hand-created art and craft.

Aims of the project:

  • to devise and thoroughly test effective and easy-to-use online application systems and all the other technical aspects of the Guild’s future operation
  • to reach the widest possible pool of potential Guild members
  • to ensure that quality of work is truly at the heart of everything the Guild does and represents.

If you support the Guild by pledging money, you are directly helping to create and maintain a new, inclusive and welcome facility for the wonderfully creative community in Frome. The Guild will be a self-managing, self-governing and self-selecting organisation, supported by an administrator. The first £250 is matched by Localgiving, but we really need to reach the £10,000 target to make it happen and to keep it going.

The first meeting of the foundation Guild members will be in March 2019 and the very first Black Swan Guild exhibition will preview on Friday, 3 May 2019 and open to the public on Saturday, 4 May.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.
